Romantic Summer Wedding at Plas Nanteos Mansion, Aberystwyth

Guests throw confetti over bride and groom

Plas Nanteos Mansion is MADE for flowers! The venue is a Grade I Listed 18th century country house set in 30 acres of woodland in Ceredigion, beautifully positioned between the coast and the Cambrian mountains. Dreamy!

I can certainly see why Megan and Charlie fell in love with Plas Nantoes, and from first glance they knew they wanted to bring it alive with flowers! They opted for a romantic but summery colour palette of delicate blush and ivory with pops of baby blue for their elegant and timeless June wedding at Plas Nanteos Mansion, Aberystwyth.

We aimed to create an immersive flower filled experience for their guests, elevating the stunning period features of the venue, bringing the outside in and reflecting their unique couple personality.

The Personal Flowers

When it comes to wedding flowers, one of the most crucial tasks is to ensure a seamless transition between the wedding party's attire and the overall styling of the day. You want your wedding to look purposeful, with design elements perfectly complimenting one another.

I always say, it is better to choose tones and shades around your bridesmaid dresses, than try to match them completely. Megan's bridesmaids wore mix and match style chiffon dresses in champagne blush. I chose "Quicksand" roses which complimented the tone of the dress, as well as the duskier, velvety "Secret Garden" rose to add some depth to the designs.

I love to add some seasonal touches with my flower selection; mock orange, nigella flowers and scabiosa showcased the best of the season and added to the country garden feeling, really giving a sense bringing of the outside in.

The Groom and Groomsmen wore textured blue suits with silk ties in the most delicate blush pink. I chose accents of tiny china blue oxypetalum flowers, alongside "Bombastic" spray roses, eucalytpus and lemon scented wax flower to compliment the bridemaids' attire and tie everything together.

All of the personal flowers were all finished with naturally dyed trailing silk ribbon in delicate blush from The Botanical Dyer.

The Ceremony

One of the most important aspects of planning your wedding flowers is creating maximum impact within your space. What Megan & Charlie felt was most important to them was creating beautiful memories of their big day by enhancing the features of the venue with florals.

The Music Room at Plas Nanteos has the most exquisite intricate fireplace which was crying out to be adorned with flowers! We complimented the bridal party flowers by using "Secret Garden" roses, delphinium and masses of lush scented foliage to fill the room with fresh fragrance. Paired with bud vases, the effect was stunning and all of the guests commented on the incredible scent filling the room.

I always recommend choosing ceremony pieces that can be repurposed throughout your venue to create maximum visual impact on your wedding day, and we certainly did just that for Megan & Charlie...

The Reception

For me, my favourite part of creating a wedding is the moment you walk into your wedding space and the WOW of seeing all of the elements you've spent months planning come together to create a truly beautiful and memorable day.

Whilst the guests sipped champagne and tossed confetti, the fireplace installation was moved to the dining room to be enjoyed during the wedding breakfast. It blended effortlessly with the florals chosen for the table décor and created instant impact in the room.

We complimented the period features of the venue with antique brass candlesticks filled with luxury colour matched candles. The trestle tables were positioned in a U formation to allow all of the guests to see the newlyweds. We dressed the tables with a composition of lush foliage and textured glass bud vase filled with luxurious delphinium, ruffled lisianthus and gorgeous garden roses.

Our bride, Megan had handmade personalised place names for all of the guests. Decorated with blush pink flowers and ready to be taken home and reused as coasters. For me, it's that attention to detail and intentional design that brings a whole look together, making your eyes light up as you enter the room on your wedding day and providing gorgeous images for your to covet and look back on for years to come.
