When I first met Sophie and Tiran one thing was very clear... they had style! With a clear vision, they dreamed of modern elegance for their black and white wedding at Rowton Castle in Shropshire. Simplistic in style but with standout elements creating the ultimate in quiet luxury and intentional wedding design.
The Personal Flowers
Bouquets and buttonholes might seem like the smallest floral design pieces at a wedding, but they provide a crucial role of marrying the wedding party attire with the overall styling of the day.
Sophie had a clear vision of the vibe she wanted to create for her wedding day, and so opted for a modern take on a classic design, an asymmetric white rose bouquet of fluffy reflexed roses.
I selected my favourite white rose "Playa Blanca", its open cup shape and masses of ruffled petals make it perfect for this type of design. The texture of the bouquet provided a fantastic contrast to Sophie's sleek silk dress.
The Bridesmaids wore satin dresses in gun metal grey, which tied beautifully with Sophie's dress. The bridesmaid bouquets acted as a bridging design; between Sophie's white rose bouquet and the rest of the florals. They contained "Playa Blanca" roses teamed with Gypsophila, Dianthus and White Limonium echoing the contents of the urn arrangements at the front of the aisle. All of the bouquets were finished with trailing silk ribbon in pure white, from The Botanical Dyer.
The Groom and Groomsmen opted for white rose buds, complimenting the roses in the bride's bouquet, paired with preserved white ruscus foliage. Finished with pure white silk ribbon from The Botanical Dyer, they looked sleek and sophisticated and provided a lovely contrast to their black tux.
The Ceremony Flowers
Sophie and Tiran chose to highlight their ceremony with floral arrangements of white blooms; delphinium, roses, gypsophila, anthurium and tumbling orchids to name a few! The urn containers themselves were chosen to compliment the architecture of the castle and pillared ceremony space, making the designs feel in keeping with the venue itself. The floral urn arrangements worked fantastically for creating a focal point and creating endless photo opportunities of the couple exchanging vows.
The Reception
You know when you walk into a wedding reception and get that "Oh wow!" feeling?! That is the effect of careful curation and intentional design choices.
Sophie and Tiran chose timeless white bowl floral centrepieces for their black and white themed reception. I used a selection of textural and architectural flowers to echo the modern minimalist style of the wedding.
The round wedding breakfast tables were kept minimalistic with crisp white linens, arched vellum menus and sleek table numbers. The layering of textures on the tables worked fantastically to create a luxurious and thoughtfully curated wedding tablescape. Even the chai tea wedding favours were packages in black sachets, creating a cohesive design throughout.
The urn arrangements from their ceremony were repositioned inside the main ballroom at Rowton Castle, framing the gorgeous feature window frame as well as their ever-so-sleek wedding cake. The cake itself was cake simple and sweet with an elegant tall design, buttercream finish and white silk ribbon adornment.
To top that all off, Sophie had selected a wedding fragrance and used candles to permeate it throughout the wedding venue. For years to come, when any of their guests smell that fragrance, they will be transported back to Sophie and Tiran's wedding day.
Congratulations Sophie and Tiran! It was a joy to be part of your truly exquisite wedding day.
