Laura and David opted for a classic seasonal colour palette of navy blue, silver and snow white for their winter wedding at Tyn Dwr Hall in Llangollen, North Wales. When Laura first contacted me, she said they wanted their wedding to look like a crisp frosty morning in December, when you can see your breath and hear the icy crunch of the grass as you step on it.
Personal Flowers
Laura wore a simple but very chic, minimalistic sleeved satin A line dress with a white tulle veil and pearl accessories. Classic, timeless and beautiful! Her bridal bouquet was whimsical and romantic with fluffy white "playa blanca" roses and eryngium thistles. Loose wispy strands of seasonal foliage gave the bouquet a chic botanical feel. Luxury silk ribbon in "Cinderella Blue" was wrapped around Laura's bouquet, trailing behind her as she floated down the aisle and adding that extra special finishing touch.
The Bridesmaids carried petite versions of Laura's white flower and seasonal winter foliage bouquet, which were set off perfectly against their classic flowing navy gowns with silver accessories. Smaller bouquets, with slightly fewer flowers, but still substantial and bountiful.
The Groom and Groomsmen wore navy blue suits with silver waistcoats and opted for white rose bud and eryngium thistle cluster style buttonholes. They were finished with seasonal foliage and "Cinderella Blue" silk ribbon from The Botanical Dyer, perfectly tying the wedding parties flowers together in their design style.
Ceremony Flowers
Laura and David wanted to use the flowers to draw their wedding guests eyes down the aisle, making a focal point of the stunning (and huge!) fireplace at Tyn Dwr Hall and framing them as they exchanged vows. We used aisle meadow floral designs, a firm favourite for 2023/2024 weddings, to do this. The were filled with scented winter foliage, white blooms (lisianthus, roses, atrantia and snap dragons to name a few!) and touches of navy blue creating a luxe winter vibe.
The fireplace was dressed with bud vases, containing some of the blooms also used in the meadow designs, and pillar candles on logs to enhance the winter woodland feel. During the ceremony, we utilised the bud vases which would become table decor (more on that later) on the windowsills and registrar's table.
I always recommend couples incorporate their floral designs throughout both their wedding ceremony and reception. This creates a harmonious atmosphere and this gives your guests the impression of more flowers, making sure you are getting the most out of your wedding flower budget.
Reception Flowers
Laura & David opted for long trestle tables in a banqueting style for their wedding reception. They were dressed with crisp white linen, table runners and napkins with pops of colour coming from the navy Christmas crackers, a lovely nod to the festive season! We added bud vases in varying heights and shapes to add interest to the tables, enhancing the whimsical romantic look.
Although the cold winter evening was drawing in, the room was warm and cosy with twinkling fairy lights and flickering candles.
We utilised the aisle meadows as additional floral décor during the wedding reception, positioning them in front of the top table for a real WOW focal point and at the ends of each row of trestle tables.
They finished their evening with a sparkler send-off, what better way to finish the perfect winter wedding!
